The Circle: Transept

Brought to you by Arctic Circle Radio, the Circle takes you on a one-hour journey based on the most simple and significant of shapes. Every Circle is unique; formed from a guest curator’s musical landscape and they all share the same revolutionary quality: each one ends at the point where it began.

Edition 58 – Transept – “We put the mix together ‘back-to-back’, using Ableton Live and Dropbox. We each took turns to react to the previous track, but with a view to returning to the start point by the end. I guess they largely reflect what we were listening to individually at the time. Weirdly, putting it together kind of felt like a really long improvisation…”

The Circle: James Brewster

Brought to you by Arctic Circle Radio, the Circle takes you on a one-hour journey based on the most simple and significant of shapes. Every Circle is unique; formed from a guest curator’s musical landscape and they all share the same revolutionary quality: each one ends at the point where it began.

Edition 51 – Electro-acoustic cafe Mix – Sound artist and barista James Brewster presents a mix based around his ‘Electro-acoustic cafe’ project – a combined espresso-bar and sound installation. His Circle mix is bookended by two live recordings of processed milk frothing, from performances in Malmo, Sweden a few months apart. Inbetween these two appearances Brewster took the project to various festivals around Europe, and the tracks in the mix are selections from the music he was listening to during these trips.
