Here’s what we are adding to Chill to help make your soundtrack for the Easter weekend. If you would like to suggest anything we should be playing, you can email music@helpmechill.com

SOHN – Hue

You may have heard SOHN’s beautifully fragile and richly layered vocals on soundtracks (such as the film Insurgent) or on Chill, and from his latest pair of releases, we are playing the tender and melancholy “Hue”.

Cosmo Sheldrake – Wriggle (Mr Jukes Edit)

Multi-instrumentalist Cosmo is a widely travelled and eclectic composer who has run a community choir in Brighton, as well as music workshops for young people in the USA and Canada. There is a giant stack of brilliant and surprising ideas condensed into his latest album, out on April 6th. We’re playing a special mix of “Wriggle” across the day.

 

Ando Sanderez – Through The Looking Glass (and Beyond the Horizon)

We discovered this artist thanks to a Chill listener – he makes lush soundscapes.

 

Lauge & Baba Gnohm – Refleksioner (and more)

Henrik Laugesen recently got in touch to share his work. This Danish duo have made some classic ambient soundtracks, most of which we’ll be playing in our super-chilled Midnight Chill show. We’ll also be playing “Refleksioner” from the 2011 “Langbortistan” album across the day.

 

Praktikos – Chillactic Beat Tape 2

From San Francisco’s bay area, Praktikos makes atmospheric beats with hip hop flavours and a spiritual dimension. We’ll be playing “Distant Presence” and other tracks across the day.

Beautifully chilled cover of a classic song.

Helen Alexis – Nostalgia

Elena Alekseeva, aka Helen Alexis, is a London-based Chill listener and composer of music and sound for lots of interesting projects – you can read all about them at her website.

 

Henry Green – Another Light

Bristol-based Henry Green has his debut album “Shift” due out at the end of March.

 

JJ Draper – Gwythian

A delicate acoustic song with powerfully pure vocals. Look out for his London gigs at the beginning of April.

 

Pablo Nouvelle feat. Hanna Leess – Careless

We added some of his older tracks last week, and this week it’s time to play a song from his new album, “Wired”.

 

Shuta Yasukochi – Leaving

This Japanese artist creates beautiful ambient soundtracks which can transport you to the most chilled places you can imagine. We’re featuring the track “Leaving” from this short album.

 

Chillhop Essentials Spring 2018

One of our favourite compilation series, Chillhop brings together laidback beats from artists around the world with flavours of hiphop, jazzhop and triphop. We’re playing loads of tunes from this new seasonal compilation, including our featured track “Good Morning Sunshine” by j.san.

 

Equal Ways – Pressed Shadows

Catching up on an ambient classic we missed first time around, but discovered thanks to Pat at Cosmetiq.

George FitzGerald and Bonobo – Outgrown

From George’s newly release second album “All That Must Be”, we are featuring this collaboration with Bonobo.

 

Dan Winefield – Me And My Journey

This is a journey into lo-fi nu jazz, via downtempo and all kinds of chill. We’ll be playing the funky electric piano fest “Le Petit Noir” the most across the day, along with “City Lights”, “Nuance” and more.

 

Josh Lasden & Synoptic – 10 Years El Futuro Recordings Chill Out Album

These futuristic chilled tunes are perfect for dreaming of what could be while blissed out in an acrylic ball chair. We’ll be playing the newest tune “180” the most along with others from the compilation.

 

Liminal Drifter – The Night Train Vacancies

Beautifully chilled vibes from Australia. We’ll be playing the Erik Nilsson remix of “Troubled Mystic” and the Night Train remix of “Lullaby”, along with the original version of “Soothed By Summer” from Liminal Drifter’s first album.

 

Pablo Nouvelle – Ave and other tracks

Sometimes we’re nudged to discover someone amazing we’ve simply overlooked in the past, and one of our listeners pointed us this way. Pablo Nouvelle has an impressive back catalogue of laidback and upbeat chill, and we’ll be playing “Ave”, “We Ain’t Dead Yet” and “All I Need” from Pablo’s 2016 album while we await new material on the way.

Freshly chilled from Sweden, this is the first track from boerd’s new mini-LP, “Static”, out on April 6th.

 

Cafe Del Mar Piano Works – Chapter II

Another from our catch up pile, we featured Poppy Ackroyd from this album last year, and now we’ve had another listen, we’re adding lots of the other tracks too.

 

Cafe Mambo Ibiza – Dusk Till Dawn

And to complete this week’s rummage through stuff we should have added ages ago, this beautiful album from 2016 features Melodica’s Chris Coco and lots more of our favourite artists. We’ll be playing “Truth Is A Lie”, “Mitjorn”, “Millieu”, “You Can Do It” and more.

Thanks to our fantastic listeners and artists who share what they’re doing, we have some beautiful new music to help us chill this week!

Alley – 17

This is an evocative collection of soundscapes made from audio the artist collected on their travels, experiences and meetings, merged with classical piano, strings and electronic elements. We’ll be playing “The Tide” and “Batman Is Bruce Wayne” across the day, and “Ambient #3” in our super-chilled Midnight Chill mixes from 12-2am.

 

Baby Grand – And Dream Of…

This is a real lounge experience which took me off to faraway sun-soaked places and perhaps a distant time too, when they had the testcard on TV. In a good way! We’ll be playing lots of tracks from this album across the day.

 

Esgazette – Instrumental

This is a widely varied collection of soundscapes, something for every mood. We’ll be featuring “The Timing of Every Sunrise and Sunset” the most, and playing several other tracks across the day too.

 

Jens Buchert – Lifecode

Another wide ranging album, this deeply chilled collection includes “Sundreams (Chillcode Mix)” which we’ll be playing most across the day, along with most of the other tracks. We’re reserving the title track “Lifecode” for Midnight Chill because of how amazing relaxing it is!

 

Thomas Lemmer & Christoph Sebastian Pabst – Meeresleuchten

We already play lots by these artists on Chill, and this new EP includes “Pastellstrand”, which has been helping us chill for a while now. We’re adding more tracks into the mix from these masters of electronic ambience.

 

Tim Linghaus – Memory Sketches

This is a remarkable set of tunes, some very short, expressing fragments of the artist’ s memories around some deeply touching events. We’ll mainly be playing longer pieces like “Me In Your Rear-View Mirror (Boys Don’t Cry)”, but it’s worth exploring the whole album. There’s a very full explanation of it all from the artist at his website.

The album will be released on March 30th.
